An independent engineering studio

Founded in 2013. A small team (50 people). 100+ website projects delivered. Our mission is to streamline website production.

01

Thoughtful engagements

We believe that the best outcomes are born from a culture of collective curiosity. We are deliberate about the projects we take on and seek out unique engagements that align with our skills to produce our most impactful, high-caliber work.

02

Turning "impossible" into "done"

Our approach is defined by a "never say never" mindset, even when the stakes are high and timelines are tight. We combine our subject matter expertise with an expansive technical toolbelt to navigate all phases of a project's lifecycle.

03

Growth, teaching, and learning come first

Growth is our baseline, not an afterthought. We actively seek out new trends and technologies to expand our approach, using internal workshare sessions as a springboard to inspire one another and fuel our contributions to open-source and our client work.

FAQs

What types of projects does Blinkk take on?

Blinkk's speciality is highly-interactive, content-heavy marketing and growth web properties. If you have a website about your company, product, or organization – Blinkk can build it. Some of our projects are focused on growth and sharing your product's messaging with the world, while others are focused on more experiential properties and meant to inspire users.

All projects delivered by Blinkk come with a CMS – but we think about it more like a "content engine" that allows you to easily keep your content fresh and up-to-date without developer involvement.

What is Blinkk’s team like?

Blinkk was founded in 2013 as an independent UX engineering "micro studio" by former Google engineers. Over the years, we've grown to fifty people across multiple disciplines: UX engineers, technical directors, producers and operations managers, and content management. The personas on our team complement each other to bring your projects to life.

Importantly, Blinkk does not have internal visual designers. We'll partner with your internal designers, design or brand agencies, freelancers, or vibe coded designs on each project.

What is the typical project timeline?

Ultimately, it depends on the size of the project. Blinkk typically supports projects in one of two different ways:

Fixed fee – We come in to deliver on a specific task or milestone (usually a website redesign or launch). You'll hand off high fidelity designs, and we'll hand off the built website. You can optionally retain us to help with support on a limited basis, post-launch.

Evergreen – Think of us like your embedded webmaster team. We'll assign one or more Blinkks to support your project – keeping the website and the engine powering it up to date, partnering with you and the design team to add new designs to the website's design library, working on growth experiments and campaigns, and localizing and publishing content. This is the most popular way to engage with Blinkk and the way that Blinkk provides the most ongoing value.

Who are Blinkk's clients?

Blinkk works with big and small companies. We work with a wide variety of Google and Alphabet companies (Google Workspace, Google Store, Gemini, Waymo, X, and gFiber), Niantic Labs (Scopely, Pokémon GO), and Niantic Spatial. In the past, we've worked with Uber, and other various startups.

What technologies do you specialize in?

Blinkk prides ourselves on growth and keeping our engineering muscles fresh. We try to stay on trend and, in some cases, define trends in our space of marketing website production. Most projects use our home-grown Root.js website engine, which is built on Google Cloud Platform (specifically, Firebase). Under the hood, Root uses TSX server components. Root uses Vite and can deploy in either SSG or SSR mode depending on your requirements.

Our websites are typically built to use "building blocks". We create a component and module library allowing you to mix and match components and modules to launch new pages with minimal engineering support.

In addition to these open technologies, we also work with Google Wiz and Google's build system for integrations and deployment onto Google infrastructure.
